Austin, Texas
Austin is the capital of the U.S. statea of Texas and the seat of Travis County. Located in Central Texas on the eastern edge of the American Southwest, it is the fourth-largest city in Texas and the 15th-largest in the United States.
Well well, Austin is nothing special as the capital of a state. However, one may not know that Texas was once an indipendent state before. The "Republic of Texas", or so called "Lone Star Republic", bordering the United States and Mexico, existed from 1836 to 1846. Later on, Texas joined Unite States. However, the resolution did not include any special exceptions to the provisions of the US Constitution regarding statehood. The right to create these possible new states was not "reserved" for Texas, as is sometimes stated. Second, Texas did not have to surrender its public lands to the federal government. This means, Texas has its own right to declare independent even as of today.
Sounds Interesting? Let's go to the state capital and see.

Entering the building, we see five symboles around the "Republic of Texas" sign. This is the what Texas get from its strange history. Even though Texas is a state of USA, it can still call itself a "Republic".
